IPC Orlando History

The India Pentecostal Church of God was founded at Eloor a small village in Andhra Pradesh early in the 20th century, as a result of the strong spiritual vision of certain saints of God. By the grace of God this church has grown and spread through out the world.

Orlando is one of the major cities in Florida State. It is often said that Florida has several similarities with Kerala, especially with its whether and natural panorama. Orlando is called the vacation capital of the world. The world famous Disney world is here where thousands of tourist from all over the world folks together for enjoyment. The Orlando IPC stands with its head high as a 'Beacon of Hope' for the all the visitors to this city. This church was founded by God for true worship in truth and spirit. It stands as a 'Sign Board' for the 'Heavenly Kingdom' to the multitude of tourist who visit the 'Magic Kingdom'.

It was in the early nineteen seventies that the Keralites started to immigrate to the USA. Among the immigrants there were many Malayalee Pentecostals .As a result, Kerala Pentacostal fellowship took shape. Bro. Varky Chako and his family was the first Malayalee family to immigrate to Orlando in the year 1987.In the very same year three families (Bro. Varky Chako & family, Bro.Vargheese Abraham & family, and Bro.Alexander George and his mother Mariamma George) assembled in the residence of Bro.Varky Chako and prayed and started this fellowship. This small prayer fellowship has grown and has become the largest Pentecostal church in Orlando today. We humble ourselves before the almighty knowing " so then neither he who plants is anything nor who waters, but God who gives the increase".

January 1988 was an important period in the history of our church. Many new believers started to attend the prayer meetings held at the house of Bro.Varky Chako. After sometime this gathering was shifted to another place. It was at that time Dr.Joy Abraham took over as the Pastor of this church. He pastored the church for six years. After Pastor Joy Abraham, Pastor Mathews Itty, Pastor Thomas George, Pastor V.P. Jose and Late Rev. Dr. John Daniel pastored the church. With gratitude we remember these God's servants at this fortune.

On 21st January 1988, this church was registered with the government. And on 13th March 1988 we got the affiliation from India Pentacostal Church, Kumbanad. This event took place in the presence of late Pastor M.V.Chako, mundiappally.

We can see two important reasons how the churches in Antioch and Thessalonica became the model churches in the first century. The first reason was their 'faith', which was famous all over the world. The second reason was the spiritual standard of the church. Our prayer is that our God who is worthy of all praises and glory, keep us holy and blameless within and without in this city in the days to come.
